FREQUENTLY ASKEDQUESTIONS

Quick answers and direct links to the District information people request most often.

What should I do in an emergency?
Call 911 for an active fire, rescue, or medical emergency. Be ready to provide the address, describe what is happening, and follow the dispatcher’s instructions.
How can I make my address easier for your crews to find?
Use large, contrasting address numbers that are visible from the street in daylight and at night. Keep them clear of trees, decorations, and snow. If your home sits back from the road, mark the driveway entrance as well.
How do I contact the District for a non-emergency?
Why does a fire engine sometimes respond with an ambulance?
An engine may be dispatched when an ambulance crew needs additional personnel or equipment. Firefighters can assist with patient access, lifting and moving, CPR, and other time-critical care.
Why does the District charge for fire inspections?
The District’s annual inspection program operates under Wisconsin Administrative Code SPS 314. Inspection fees help offset the cost of administering the local fire-prevention program. Learn more under Inspection & Property Access.
Does the District fill swimming pools?
No. District apparatus and personnel are not available to fill private swimming pools.
Can I request a tour of the fire station?
Yes. The District welcomes groups and individuals for fire-safety education and station tours when staffing and emergency activity allow. Use the contact form to request a date.
Who takes care of fire hydrants?
Within the City of Baraboo, hydrants are maintained by Baraboo Water and Sewer Utilities. In the Village of West Baraboo, they are maintained by Village Public Works. Fire-protection charges on municipal water bills do not fund the Baraboo Area Fire and EMS District.
How do I request a safety visit, inspection, or event coverage?
Review the available options on the Services page, then use the linked request form. Include the location, preferred date, audience, and any other details that will help the District respond.
How do I request an interfacility ALS transfer?
Interfacility transfer requests must be made by phone. Call 855-376-3495 with the patient location, destination, timing, and available level-of-care information.
Where can I find EMS Care Forms?
Visit EMS Care Forms to preview and download household forms and wallet cards. Completed medical forms stay with you and should not be uploaded through this website.
Is there a 911 guide for nursing-facility staff?
Yes. The nursing-facility section of 911 Information is a concise checklist for calling 911, preparing for our crews, and explaining what changed from the resident’s normal condition.
Does the District offer public classes?
The Classes page lists current opportunities, including the combined CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed program, first aid, fire prevention, and links to CRASE and ASIM course information.
Where can I find meeting agendas, minutes, and public notices?
Use the Records Archive to search posted District documents. Board pages also show current meeting information and the latest documents.
